In 2016, Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance was established led by Wuhan Children's Hospital. Through the whole-hearted cooperation of medical staff from Cardiovascular Medicine Department, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology Department and other departments, the temporary cardiac pacemaker was successfully implanted, hemodialysis and plasma exchange were carried out immediately, making the child survive the perils of life within two hours after admission. On April 4, the baby was discharged from the hospital, and the parents were overjoyed. It was the doctors and nurses of the two hospitals who had the courage to take responsibility, relay rescue efforts and race against time that created the miracle of life.
According to the data from the conference, the number of two-way referrals within the alliance increased by 64.4% in 2021 compared with that in 2020, and the number of downward referrals increased by 187.9%. The proportion of upward referral to critical illness exceeded 70%, and quality was improved and the quantity was increased for downward referral. The types of diseases were expanded from the common respiratory and digestive tract diseases to chronic diseases in orthopedics, general surgery, hematology, nephrology, and genetic metabolism endocrinology, indicating that the capacity of pediatric services at the grassroots level has been significantly improved and the capacity to undertake has been enhanced.

"We've bought a ventilator for two years, but no one would use it, but put it aside." With the improvement of the economic level, the "hardware" of primary hospitals has been improved, but the lack of relevant talents is not uncommon.
Shao Jianbo, president of Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance chairman, and party secretary of Wuhan Children's Hospital introduced that, "In order to practice the national 'Thousand County Project', and make people 'have the serious illness treated within the local county', it is necessary to take the county as the center, and build excellent pediatric team in the county hospital, to which the key is in talent training."
For a long time, Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance has been sparing no effort to cultivate "torchbearers" for pediatrics in primary hospitals by providing free further education, 100-doctor advanced training course, life support training course, and first aid skills contest. More than 2,000 trainees and 300 300 academic leaders have received free offline training, and 300,000 trainees have received free online training. The conference commended 22 doctors from primary hospitals, such as Yao Junlan and Du Heng, who were awarded as "Excellent Students of Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance". They were like kindling, leading the rapid development of grassroots pediatrics in Jingchu.
To explore and implement "the promotion of specialist technologies in the form of projects" in the Alliance: choose the commonly used specialist technologies for pediatric diseases, such as lung function, ventilator, electroencephalogram (EEG) and laparoscopy, and promote them vigorously in primary hospitals through expert teaching, online training and offline practice, so as to make pediatricians at the grass-roots level grasp these specialist technologies, and benefit the local children.
In order to better promote the continuous child healthcare work, in addition to clinical skills training, Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance has also been focusing on improving the scientific research ability of pediatricians. In 2021, the Alliance set up a special fund of RMB 1 million yuan to fund the scientific research projects of the allied units. Relying on the project tutor system, regular supervision and training were provided to grassroots doctors to improve their scientific research ability.
The initiative has borne fruit this year. At the conference, a number of experts reported the progress of medical research projects, for example, Jiao Rong from Xiangyang First People's Hospital, Xi Shibing from Shiyan Taihe Hospital, and a group of young pediatric doctors have obtained scientific research projects.

In May this year, the Telemedicine Center of Hubei Pediatric Medical Alliance was newly upgraded. The Telemedicine platform has linked with more than 100 medical institutions for remote consultation, remote training, live surgery, and online quality control, and providing 100+ consultations for difficult and complicated pediatric cases in the whole province.
Relying on the remote training platform of Hubei Pediatric Telemedicine Center, such as "classroom in the air", the training provided for pediatricians will become systematic. According to the specialized diseases, the Classroom in the Air, Pediatric Inspector Ask You to Solve the Case can be divided into different thematic months, such as "rheumatic disease", "neonatal, severe disease", "respiratory digestive". By 2021, a total of 48 lessons had been provided, with nearly 200 expert lectures and 220,000 online students.
In the past three years, the offline "Hubei Child Healthcare Tour" has completed more than 110 rounds of free clinics, covering 86 counties and cities in 16 cities and states. The free clinic activities involved 770 pediatric experts, 17,000 children, and 10,000 medical staff trained on site, and 246 hospitals (times) managed by quality supervision and homogenization.
In addition, the hospital also focused on county hospitals, and assigned young backbone doctors to the primary hospitals, so as to improve the medical care capacity of local pediatrics. Wuhan Children's Hospital dispatched medical staff to Tongcheng County People's Hospital and Tongcheng County Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital to carry out counterpart support work. Zhou Aifen, president of Wuhan Children's Hospital, led an expert team to sign a cooperation agreement with Enshi Prefecture Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital and Enshi Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital. In June this year, Wuhan Children's Hospital and Wuxue Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital signed a contract to launch phase II cooperation, which would help the local establishment of a tertiary maternal and child healthcare hospital.
In December 2021, Hubei Province Hospital Association Children's Hospital (Pediatric) Branch was established on the basis of the Alliance. The branch would focus on strengthening the management ability of pediatrics, and make "four-wheel drive" with the alliance, quality control center and children's medical center, so as to promote the high-quality development of pediatrics in Hubei.

The conference launched a new charity project of Children's Hospital in cooperation with Wuhan China Merchants Bank and Hubei Charity Federation -- Hubei Charity Federation, Wuhan Children's Hospital and China Merchants Bank "Day Day Love" micro charity fund, including a variety of assistance forms such as love meals, love tickets, love wishes and love rooms for needy children. As introduced by Shao Jianbo, party secretary of Wuhan Children's Hospital, the hospital has been always adhering to the concept of charity hospital, and continuing to deepen the promotion of charity relief projects for the needy children in the province, so as to make all needy children not abandon treatment, and highlight the public welfare of public hospitals.
